Shuffle Up & Deal! Level 23: 30,000-60,000,
5,000 ante
Day 6 begins with the final
10 players battling for six seats at tomorrow's
televised WPT Final Table. There are a few
interesting storylines still in play, in
addition to crowing a new WPT World Champion:
Scotty Nguyen (currently first in chips) is
attempting to become the second player in
history (after Carlos Mortensen) to win both the
WSOP Main Event and the WPT World Championship.
A victory here would also move him past Jamie
Gold into the #1 spot on the all-time money
list. Justin Young and Bertrand "Elky"
Grospellier are attempting to catch John Phan in
the Season VII WPT Player of the Year race.
Young needs a second-place finish to tie, and a
first-place finish to win. Grospellier can tie
with a fifth-place finish, and win with a
fourth-place finish. Of course, if they both
make the final table, the calculation gets a
little more complicated as they'll be jockeying
for the top spot. Everyone is seated and ready
to go, so it's time to shuffle up and deal!
Today begins with Level 24, and blinds at

correct us -- they were all in preflop, making
it a much worse bad beat.
We've corrected the
original post to reflect this, and we apologize
for the error

Two Unlikely Chopped
Pots
Level
18: 8,000-16,000, 2,000 ante
Boris Becker is all in
preflop with K-K, and he dominates Sinan Yoyen's
J-J. But the board comes A-Q-Q-A-Q, putting a
full house on the board that beats both of their
hands -- it's a chopped pot.
Less than a minute later,
at another table, Eric Liu moves all in under
the gun with AK, and Steve Billirakis calls with
99. Liu takes the lead with two pair on a flop
of AKQ, but the turn is the 10, the river is the
J, and both players chop the pot with an
ace-high straight on the board.
Two very unlikely chopped
pots happening almost simultaneously at
neighboring tables -- the odds of that are
extremely slim.

Duke "Hitler"
Level 6: 400-800, 100
ante
Annie Duke was moved
into the Fontana Lounge, and as she was walking
around checking in on a few friends, Layne Flack
smiled and loudly called her,
"Hitler! Hitler!"
Those of you who watch
"Celebrity Apprentice" probably get the joke.
Annie has been clashing on the show with Joan
Rivers, who actually compared Annie to Hitler on
last night's episode.
Getting the joke, Annie
broke into a big smile when Layne jokingly
called her Hitler. Joe Tehan Doubles Through

A Moment of Silence
at the Start of Day 2 Level 6: 400-800, 100
ante
Gavin Smith took the
microphone on stage and made a very somber
announcement. Justin Shronk, a friend to many in
the poker world and a behind-the-scenes producer
at PokerRoad.com, passed away a few days ago at
the too-young age of 27. Gavin said some nice
words, and asked everyone to observe a moment of
silence, which they did. Rest in peace, Justin
Shronk.
Day 2 About to
Begin Level 6: 400-800,
100 ante
There are 301 players still
alive (from a total of 337) here on Day 2 of the
WPT World Championship. The field is split
between the Fontana Lounge (25 tables, 225
players) and the poker room (everyone else).
We'll do our best to provide as much coverage as
we can from this deep, deep field with plenty of
the best players in the world still alive and
competing. The players are currently opening
their bags and racing off the green (25) chips.
Play should be starting in the next 10 minutes
or so.

Over-Under on Allen
Kessler's End-of-Day Stack: 85,000
Level 4:
200-400, 50 ante
We just found out that
there is a large group of players with a prop
bet going based on Allen Kessler's end-of-day
chip count. Each player began with 100,000 in
chips, and at the start of play the line was set
at 85,000.
Barry Greenstein asked
Allen how many chips he had right now, and
Kessler said, "129,000." Barry, knowing
what a tight player Allen is, laughed and said,
"The unders are drawing dead."
Kathy Liebert is one of the
players who took the over.

Sammy Farha opens the pot
for a 700 chip raise from early position and is
reraised to 2,000 by WPT Southern Poker
Championship winner Allen Carter. Joe Tehan
smooth calls the reraise from the cut off as
does Farha. The flop comes 10 10 5 . Farha checks and Carter
makes a continuation bet of 3,500. Tehan calls
and Farha gets out of the way. The turn is the

Jon Kalmar Eliminated Level 3: 100-200, 25 ante
Jon Kalmar was relatively short stacked with
less than 10,000 in chips, but got it all in
with K-K during a preflop reraising battle
against another player's A-K. Unfortunately, an
ace on the turn was enough to seal his face, and
Jon Kalmar is out of the tournament.

All in Dark at Table 57? Level 1: 50-100,
ante
Sammy Farha may have just a
little too much gamble in him... Farha is in the
nine seat at table 57 in the small blind. He
tells everyone that he wants it to be folded
around so he can move all in blind against Chau
Giang. Giang seems more than ready to gamble
with him and moves his chips past the bet line
in front of him. With 100,000 stacks you might
think that they're joking, but from the look of
things, they're dead serious. Most players at
the table agree that they will fold their hands
if Sammy and Chau really want to do this. It
actually looks like it might happen until a
player under the gun (who had remained silent
during this conversation at the table) limps
into the pot. All bets are off after he enters
the action and Nick Binger makes a raise to 750.
Sammy decides not to move all in and instead
calls the raise. Chau, no longer interested in
the pot now that Sammy's not all in, folds his
hand. The player under the gun reraises and
Binger and Farha both call. The UTG player makes
a large continuation bet after the flop and
takes the hand. We'll keep a close watch on the
table to see if this all in blind scenario with
Sammy and Chau actually goes down. Table 57 Seat

Boris Becker's Aces Cracked Level 1: 50-100,
ante Action folds around to the button who
raises to 600. Justin "Boosted J" Smith calls
from the small blind and Boris Becker calls from
the big blind. The flop comes 10 7 2 . Smith checks, Becker bets
1,550. The button folds and Smith calls. The
turn is the 5 and Smith checks it over
to Becker who bets 3,500. Smith calls again. The
river brings the 2 and Smith checks for a
third time. Becker makes a large bet of 11,000.
Smith takes his time before raising to 37,000.
Becker makes the call. Becker turns over A A but they're no good
against the 10 10 of Smith for top full
house. Justin "Boosted J" Smith - 143,900 Boris
Becker - 54,000

Victor Ramdin vs. Curt
Kholberg Level 1: 50-100, ante

Kholberg check action over to Victor Ramdin on
the button. Ramdin bets 700, Mike Vela calls and
Kholberg makes a large check raise to 3,700.
Ramdin calls and Vela gets out of the way. The
turn brings the K and Kholberg fires out
8,000. Ramdin makes a quick call. The river is
the 3 , pairing the board.
Kholberg checks and Ramdin bets 11,000. Kholberg
calls and Ramdin turns over 7 7 for a full house. Kholberg
mucks his cards and Ramdin takes it down. Victor
Ramdin - 116,000 Curt Kholberg - 55,000

Day 1b: Shuffle Up
& Deal! Level 1:
50-100, ante
The players are still filtering into the Fontana
Lounge for Day 1b of the WPT World Championship,
and we are expecting a much larger turnout than
yesterday. The tournament clock currently shows
303 total players in the tournament (126
yesterday and 177 so far today), but that number
hasn't changed in at least 20 minutes as players
continue to register. With 100,000 in starting
chips and opening blinds at 50-100, it's time to
shuffle up and deal!
A Quick Ending to Day
1
Level 5:
300-600, 75 ante
With 20 minutes left in
the last level of the day, the tournament clock
is stopped and a player draws a card from a deck
of 1-9 to determine how many more hands each
table will play.
The player draws an ace, so
each table will play just one more hand before
bagging and tagging their chips. The players
then have the option of a complimentary meal at
Bellagio's buffet.
We
will be scouring the field for official chip
counts of the chip leaders, along with some of
the bigger names. But the full list of chip
counts won't be available until the casino
releases them later tonight.
